New Delhi, 7th May.
A static surveillance team operating within Delhi’s Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency seized a staggering ₹1.5 crore in cash from two scrap dealers, officials reported on Monday.

Static surveillance teams, deployed under the supervision of returning officers, play a crucial role in monitoring activities within parliamentary constituencies.

According to officials, the two scrap dealers aroused suspicion while moving with a bag in the Ballimaran area. Upon interception by the surveillance team, they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the substantial cash sum.

Subsequently, the team promptly notified the Income Tax department about the incident, with local police units also dispatched to the scene for further investigation.

Authorities suspect the individuals were acting as carriers for the cash, highlighting the potential involvement in illicit activities.

With polling scheduled for Delhi’s seven parliamentary seats on May 25, heightened vigilance and enforcement measures aim to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
