23 Trains Running Late as Fog Covers North India

New Delhi, 31st Dec. A total of 23 trains were delayed on Sunday due to heavy fog in North India, according to railway officials. The Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express was delayed by approximately 7 hours, while the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express and Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyat Express were delayed by 5 hours.

Other trains, such as the Saharsa-New Delhi Vaishali Express, Allahabad-New Delhi Prayagraj Express, and Rajendranagar-New Delhi Sampoorn Kranti, were delayed by 4 hours. The Padmavat Express was running almost 3 hours late, and the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani was delayed by 1.45 hours.

Additionally, the Pune-Nizamudin Duronto was running 2 hours late, the Bhopal-Nizamuddin Express was delayed by 6 hours, and the Durg-Nizamuddin S Kranti was running 3.50 hours late. The Chennai-New Delhi GT Express was also delayed by almost 6 hours, according to the Railways.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted dense to very dense fog in several areas, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Uttar Pradesh will also experience fog in many places, while Uttarakhand and parts of Rajasthan will have fog in a few isolated areas. Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the lower division of Himachal Pradesh, will also experience isolated fog.

The IMD has further stated that temperatures will drop even further in the first week of January 2024, with temperatures ranging between 10 and 7 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung Observatory in the national capital.
