27 Dead, Including Nine Children, in Rajkot Gaming Zone Fire

In a devastating incident on Saturday evening, a massive fire broke out at a gaming zone in Rajkot, claiming the lives of 27 people, including nine children. According to officials, the victims were severely charred, making identification challenging.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinayak Patel confirmed the detention of the gaming zone’s owners as part of the investigation into the tragedy.

Darshita Shah, MLA of Rajkot West, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating, “This is the first time in Rajkot’s history that a fire in a gaming zone has led to such a tragic loss of lives, including children. The focus is on rescuing as many as possible. The government will act against those whose negligence led to this tragedy.” A compensation of ₹4 lakh has been announced for the families of the victims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident, saying, “Extremely distressed by the fire mishap in Rajkot. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. Prayers for the injured. The local administration is working to provide all possible assistance to those affected.”

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her condolences, stating, “I am deeply anguished to learn of the loss of lives in a fire accident at a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat. My heart goes out to the families who have lost their near and dear ones, including young children. I pray to the Almighty for the speedy recovery of those being rescued.”

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed officials to prioritize the treatment of the injured and announced that he will visit the site on Sunday morning. “Instructions have been given to the Municipal Corporation and the administration for immediate rescue and relief operations,” he said.

Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava identified the gaming zone’s owner as Yuvraj Singh Solanki. He stated, “I cannot ascertain the reason behind the fire. It’s a matter of investigation. We will speak to fire brigade officials to discuss what action should be taken.”

A fire officer informed ANI that the cause of the fire remains unknown and that firefighting efforts were hampered by the collapse of the temporary structure and high wind velocity.

The officer added, “We have not received any message of missing persons. We will be able to determine the exact number of casualties after the fire is controlled. We will also investigate the cause of the fire and have issued a message for all gaming zones in the city to shut down.”

The local administration and emergency services continue to work tirelessly to manage the aftermath of this tragic incident.
