63 Appointments Made Through Lateral Entry, 57 Officers Currently in Various Ministries:Dr. Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, 24th July. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced that 63 appointments have been made through lateral entry in the Government of India since 2018. These appointments, targeting Joint Secretary, Director, and Deputy Secretary levels, were made to leverage specialized knowledge and expertise for specific assignments.

Out of the 63 lateral appointments, 35 were from the private sector. Currently, 57 of these officers are serving across various Ministries and Departments. Dr. Singh addressed these details in response to an unstarred question in Lok Sabha.

Additionally, Dr. Singh noted that while eligible candidates from reserved categories are considered, reservation policies do not apply to these single post appointments.
