8 People Dead, 23 Injured After Goods Vehicle Crashes Into Truck in Chhattisgarh

Five women and three children lost their lives, and 23 others were injured in a collision between a goods vehicle and a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, the police said.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday night near Kathia village as the victims were heading back from a family event, as stated by a senior police official.

The victims, who were from Patharra village, had attended a family function in Tiraiyya village before the accident happened.

Reportedly, the goods vehicle crashed into a parked mini truck by the roadside, causing the fatalities.

The deceased individuals were identified as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushbu Sahu (39), Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6), and Twinkle Nishad (6).

The injured victims were taken to two hospitals, with four critically injured individuals later transferred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur for further treatment.
