Rahul Gandhi Begins Wayanad Constituency Visit, Meets Tribal Family

Wayanad, 13th Feb. Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader and Wayanad MP, made a visit to the home of a tribal man who was found dead near Kozhikode Medical College recently.

On February 11, Vishwanathan (46) was found hanging near the medical college hospital in Kozhikode, where his wife was admitted for delivery.

Gandhi, who arrived in Kozhikode on Sunday night, and party leaders paid a visit to Vishwanathan’s house in Wayanad district this morning.

Gandhi, who represents Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, spent time with the family, listening to their complaints and comforting them.

When the relatives reported that the tribal man was missing from the hospital, Kozhikode Medical College police said they had already filed a case. Vishwanathan, on the other hand, was found hanging on February 11.

According to the family, Vishwanathan was harassed on February 9 and then went missing. On February 9, some people accused Vishwanathan of theft and roughed him up, according to his kin.

This was Gandhi’s first visit to his constituency since completing the over 4,000-kilometer Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on January 30.

On Sunday, Gandhi was greeted warmly by party leaders and workers outside Kozhikode International Airport.
