PM GatiShakti Revolutionizes India’s Logistics Industry; to be Promoted as Global Public Good

The PM GatiShakti Summit, titled “Towards Logistics Efficiency and Integrated Infrastructure Planning,” was held in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The event, organized by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), was inaugurated by Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Special Secretary Sumita Dawra, and other prominent figures from the industry.

During the summit, Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh emphasized that the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan is transforming India’s logistics industry. He highlighted the country’s solid structural reforms, robust macroeconomic management, and investments in physical, digital, and social infrastructure, which will contribute to economic growth.

He also mentioned the formalization of the economy, increased financial inclusion, bridging of the digital divide, and significant investments in financial assets.

In line with the Prime Minister’s vision and India’s commitment to the Global South, Secretary Sumita Dawra announced that PM GatiShakti, currently being implemented at the district level, will soon be promoted as a global public good.

Sumita Dawra also emphasized the importance of infrastructure and logistics in driving economic growth. She highlighted the launch of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and the National Logistics Policy, which prioritize large-scale infrastructure projects and improve logistics service efficiency. These reforms have led to an improvement in India’s ranking on the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index.

She also showcased the use cases of PM GatiShakti in various sectors and emphasized investment opportunities in sectors such as robotics, logistics, warehousing, waste reduction, and packaging.

The summit included panel discussions on PM GatiShakti and comprehensive area development, digital infrastructure, and green logistics.

The event aimed to bring together key stakeholders to explore strategies for comprehensive and sustainable growth and generate valuable insights and recommendations to maximize the impact of PM GatiShakti.
