VP Dhankhar Urges Global Leadership for Environmental Protection and Climate Justice

Addressing the World Sustainable Development Summit 2024 at TERI in New Delhi on Wednesday, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the imperative for global leadership to back the mainstreaming of environmental protection and climate justice at all levels, integrating these principles into the very fabric of societies.

Highlighting India’s initiatives that strike a balance between economic growth and ecological preservation, he hailed India as a beacon of inspiration for nations worldwide.

In an interconnected world, Vice-President Dhankhar stressed the need to acknowledge that the challenges confronting us transcend borders. He emphasized the far-reaching impact of our actions on vulnerable communities and ecosystems, advocating for people and nature-centric approaches.

Identifying the transition to clean and renewable energy sources as a cornerstone of sustainable development, the Vice-President emphasized that India’s commitment to renewable energy not only addresses the impacts of climate change but also fosters economic growth, job creation, and technological innovation.

Expressing concerns over the looming threat of climate change, Vice-President Dhankhar urged for economic progress to be aligned with sustainable development goals, ensuring a legacy that future generations can inherit with pride. Despite daunting challenges, he asserted that through collaboration, innovation, and international cooperation, a sustainable and secure future for all is attainable.
