New Delhi, 31st May.
The election campaign for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections came to a halt on Thursday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his election campaign with a rally in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Since the Election Commission announced the election schedule on March 16, PM Modi has held a total of 206 public meetings and roadshows. In comparison, during the 2019 elections, he participated in approximately 145 rallies and roadshows.

Increased Campaigning Compared to 2019

This time, PM Modi has conducted more campaign events and addressed more public gatherings. The campaign period was 76 days long, compared to 68 days five years ago. When the elections were announced, PM Modi was on a political tour of South India, covering all five southern states between March 15 and March 17.

Increased Focus on South India

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has focused on strengthening its position in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, where it did not win any seats in the 2019 elections. The party also aimed to maintain its strength in Karnataka and increase its presence in Telangana. In 2019, the BJP won 25 out of 28 seats in Karnataka and four seats in Telangana.

80 Interviews Given by PM Modi

During this election, PM Modi has given a total of 80 media interviews. Since the voting began, he has averaged more than one interview per day. From Thursday evening until June 1, Modi will be in Kanyakumari for meditation at a site associated with Swami Vivekananda.

Results to Be Announced on June 4

The impact of PM Modi’s intense election campaigning on the public will be revealed on June 4 when the election results are announced. At around 73 years of age, the number of meetings he held and the distance he traveled are unparalleled by any other leader. He has been the main attraction for voters for his party. His speeches during this period have drawn both criticism from opponents and enthusiasm from BJP supporters.
