Overcoming Limits: President Murmu Empowers Divyangjan at Pandit Deendayal Institute

New Delhi, 20th June. President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday visited the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities in New Delhi.

During her visit on June 20, 2024, she interacted with Divyang children and students, and enjoyed a cultural performance presented by them. The President also toured the newly renovated Prosthesis and Orthosis Centre, engaging with patients.

In her address to the gathering, President Murmu emphasized that a nation’s progress is measured by its sensitivity towards Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). She highlighted India’s cultural ethos of inclusivity and stated that no physical condition should hinder a normal life when efforts are inclusive and sensitive.

The President commended the achievements of Divyangjan across various fields, citing inspirational figures like Deepa Malik, Arunima Sinha, Avani Lekhara, and K.S. Rajanna. She underscored their dedication and determination in overcoming physical limitations.

President Murmu praised the institute’s decades-long commitment to empowering persons with disabilities and appreciated all involved for their efforts towards socio-economic empowerment.
