Bhopal, 29th July. Former Madhya Pradesh minister and senior Congress leader Arif Aqueel passed away on Monday at the age of 72 due to prolonged illness. He died in a private hospital in Bhopal, according to family sources.

Aqueel had a distinguished political career, representing the Bhopal North assembly seat six times. He first won as an Independent MLA in 1990 before joining the Congress Party. He secured victories in the 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018 assembly elections. Despite a setback in 1993, where he lost as a Janata Dal-supported candidate, Aqueel remained a significant political figure in Madhya Pradesh.
