Kedarnath, 9th Sept. The recovery operation continued on Tuesday after a devastating landslide on the Kedarnath route. Four more bodies were recovered from the debris, raising the death toll to five, officials reported.

The landslide, which occurred around 7:20 PM on Monday evening, trapped a group of pilgrims returning from Kedarnath. Immediate rescue efforts by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) led to the recovery of one body, identified as Gopal (50) from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. Three other pilgrims were rescued and transported to Sonprayag for medical treatment.

The rescue operation faced significant challenges due to adverse weather conditions and falling boulders from the hillside, which forced a temporary suspension of the efforts on Monday night.

  • Titli Devi (70) from Vaidehi village, Dhanwa district, Nepal
