WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump on Sunday announced tht he is forming an “AI Force” in the US and will announce an “AI Czar” in the near future.
Trump stated that he will not stand by and let the “decimation or destruction” of AI happen in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows! However, we will also be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System,” Trump wrote.
He described artificial intelligence as the “next Industrial Revolution, or Internet, but will be even larger and more impactful, possibly as much as 25% of our Country’s GDP.”
“We are leading China, and the rest of the World, and I intend to keep it that way,” he added.
He claimed that AI destruction was one of the “many hoaxes” that Democrats were propagating.
Trump named the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and global warming as hoaxes that have been “destroying” the US.
He did not share details regarding the structure of the planned “AI Force” or the role of the “AI Czar.”
Trump’s social media post comes amid growing debate in the United States over the rapid development of AI and its potential risks, media reported.
US Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the country cannot afford to lose the AI race to China, while promised action against Chinese individuals and companies that steal from American technology businesses.
“We can’t lose the AI race to China, right? President Trump says that, everybody says that, but they say it because it’s true,” Blanche added.
