Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Rahul Gandhi Led Congress Delegation Meets President Kovind

New Delhi, 13th Oct. A party delegation led by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi met President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday over the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. During this meeting, all the leaders have demanded the removal of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni from the post.

Apart from Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress delegation included senior leaders AK Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.

Recently, Congress had written a letter to the President asking for an appointment. The Congress has been continuously demanding the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

After meeting the President, Rahul Gandhi said that we demanded that the father of the accused, who is the Minister of State for Home, should be removed from the post because a fair investigation is not possible in his presence. Along with this, the matter should also be investigated by the two sitting judges of the Supreme Court.

Priyanka Gandhi said that the President has assured us that he will discuss this matter with the government today itself.
