Dehradun, 14th June. Uttarakhand Aam Aadmi Party chief Deepak Bali resigned from his post and the membership of the party on Monday.

Deepak Bali cited being uncomfortable with the AAP’s methodology as the reason for his resignation.

In a letter to Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arwind Kejriwal, Bali mentioned that he won’t be able to carry on with the functioning of the party and thus asked for acceptance of his resignation from the post of Uttarakhand state chief.

Bali’s resignation came after the AAP’s chief ministerial candidate for the recently concluded Assembly poll in Uttarakhand, Retired Colonel Ajay Kothiyal on May 24, 2022 joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami in Dehradun. Kothiyal announced his decision to quit the AAP on Twitter, posting his resignation letter.

In March this year, the ruling BJP returned to power in Uttarakhand as it got 47 seats, 11 more than the required majority in the 70-seat assembly.

According to the EC, Congress won 19 seats, while the Bahujan Samaj Party won in two constituencies.
