Delhi Excise Policy Case: ED Arrests Businessman Amit Arora Over Money Laundering Charges

New Delhi, 30th Nov. Amit Arora, another businessman, has been arrested in connection with the ED’s money laundering investigation into the Delhi excise policy case.

Arora is the director of the Gurugram-based Buddy Retail Pvt Limited.

The ED has made six arrests in this case.

The officials said that Arora was arrested last night under the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to the sources, he will be brought before a local court where the agency will seek his custody.

The Enforcement Directorate investigation is the result of a CBI FIR.

According to the CBI, Amit Arora, along with two other accused, Dinesh Arora and Arjun Pandey, are “close associates” of Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and were “actively involved in managing and diverting the undue pecuniary advantage collected from liquor licensees” for the accused public servants.

Last week, the ED also filed its first chargesheet (prosecution complaint) in the case, naming arrested businessman Sameer Mahandru as well as a few other entities.
