Hyderabad, 22nd Oct. The city police said on Thursday that a case has been filed against a trainee IAS officer in Hyderabad for allegedly cheating and raping a woman after promising to marry her.

In a police report, the woman claimed that the trainee officer, who is the son of a former Telangana MLA and is currently undergoing training at the Madurai District Collectorate in Tamil Nadu, raped her on multiple occasions here since 2019 by blackmailing her and threatening to call off the marriage if she did not fulfil his sexual desires.

According to police, a case was filed against the trainee officer and his father on September 27, under relevant sections of the IPC for aiding and abetting the crime.

“Previously, the IAS trainee officer and the woman were involved in a relationship. He had told her that he would marry her, but he stopped responding to her after it became clear that he had found someone else to marry. “Now the woman has complained that he raped her under the guise of marriage, and a case has been filed as a result of her complaint,” said a senior police official.
