New Delhi, 30th March.
Amidst preparations for the mega march to protest Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi emphasized the unity within the Opposition, signaling a united front for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Atishi’s remarks come amidst speculation about discord within the INDIA alliance, a coalition formed to challenge the ruling BJP.

“Atishi said, ‘INDIA alliance is one. When the (Arvind Kejriwal) arrest was taking place, big Congress leaders were present there. All the leaders of the alliance had raised their voice regarding this,'” stated Atishi during a press conference.

Describing Kejriwal’s arrest as an assault on democracy, Atishi reiterated the opposition’s commitment to voice their dissent during the upcoming protest.

Arvind Kejriwal’s recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy, has fueled discontent among opposition parties. The case revolves around allegations of corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which was subsequently annulled.

AAP, along with other opposition leaders, is gearing up for a massive protest in Delhi tomorrow against Kejriwal’s arrest. Notable leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav, and Tejashwi Yadav, are expected to attend the ‘maha rally’ at Ramlila Maidan.

Gopal Rai, another AAP leader, anticipates a substantial turnout for the protest. He asserted that the arrest of the popularly elected Chief Minister has sparked widespread anger among the populace, transcending class, profession, and demographic boundaries. Rai expressed confidence that individuals from various sectors, including students, youth, and members of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), will converge at the rally to voice their dissent.
