AAP Claims Arvind Kejriwal’s Deteriorating Health in Jail, Officials Disagree

New Delhi, 3rd April.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have claimed that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is unwell and has lost 4.5 kg since his arrest on March 21. However, authorities in Tihar jail have stated that he is in good health, and jail doctors have not raised any concerns about his well-being.

Kejriwal, who was arrested in a money laundering case related to Delhi’s now-cancelled judicial custody, is currently in Tihar jail after being remanded in judicial custody until April 15 by a local court.

He is staying in a 14×8 feet cell in jail number 2 of Tihar jail. As a diabetic, his blood sugar levels have been fluctuating recently and dropped below 50 at one point, as per reports. He has been given medication to control his blood sugar levels. Jail officials have also provided him with a sugar sensor to monitor his levels and toffees to prevent sudden drops.

The Chief Minister is receiving home-cooked meals for lunch and dinner, and his condition is being closely monitored. Jail officials have stationed a quick response team near his cell in case of emergencies.

Kejriwal spoke to his wife Sunita via video conference yesterday and met with his lawyer in person.

After concerns were raised by the Enforcement Directorate that his release could hinder the money laundering investigation, a Delhi court remanded him in judicial custody. The agency has claimed that Kejriwal is not cooperating with the investigation.

Today, the Delhi Chief Minister’s petition for interim relief will be heard.
