New Delhi, 14th Nov. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday released its second list of 117 candidates for the December 4 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

The AAP also made a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that the people of Delhi will vote for them to clean up the “garbage mountains” that the BJP has bestowed upon them.

“Our 2nd list of candidates for the upcoming MCD elections is here! Congratulations to all. Delhi will ‘Vote for Jhaadu’ to clean the ‘3 Garbage Mountains’ gifted by the BJP,” the AAP tweeted along with the list of candidates.

The AAP released its second list shortly after the BJP released its first list of 232 candidates for civic body elections.

Previously, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenged the BJP to tell the public about five things it has done in the MCD over the last 15 years.

The AAP released its first list of 134 candidates on Friday.

Bobby Kinaar, a member of the Transgender community, has been nominated by the party as a candidate for Sultanpuri-A ward in the upcoming elections.

The Sultanpuri-A ward is reserved for candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC). Sanjeev Kumar of the AAP won the seat in the 2017 elections.

Kejriwal also released the party’s manifesto for the December 4 elections, stating that his administration will work to fulfill ten “guarantees.”

“We will work to fulfil 10 guarantees. We will clean the streets of Delhi and solve the issue of garbage pile. We will also carry out beautification of parks,” Kejriwal had said at a press conference.

As part of his election manifesto, he promised to rid the MCD of corruption and to solve vehicle parking issues. MCD employees will be paid on time, according to Kejriwal.

Kejriwal presided over a meeting with top officials in the national capital on November 9. The meeting came after a crucial AAP MLA meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and attended by the party’s state convenor and minister Gopal Rai. To prepare for the civic elections, they were assigned responsibilities at various levels.

The AAP has also launched the ‘Kude Par Jansamvad’ campaign as part of its election preparations, during which AAP leaders will listen to people’s garbage problems and discuss their solutions through Jansamvad (public interaction).

The party intends to hold a public dialogue in each of Delhi’s 13,682 civic booths by November 20. The party has decided to hold approximately 500 public meetings per day. Party MLAs will preside over the meetings.

AAP leaders have been directed to visit all areas of Delhi, meet with residents, and try to understand their concerns.

Following a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the total number of civic wards in the national capital was reduced from 272 to 250. The notification concerned the redrawing of MCD wards.

The election nomination process is already underway. Nominations must be submitted by November 14, and forms will be reviewed on November 16. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is November 19.

The MCD elections will take place on December 4. The ballots will be counted on December 7.
