According to reports, the Omicron variant XE has been discovered in Gujarat, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Previously, reports claimed that the XE variant was discovered in Mumbai, but the government denied the presence of Omicron’s XE recombinant variant.

The city of Mumbai had previously claimed to have discovered one case of Omicron’s new sub-variant XE. According to reports, the new recombinant variant was discovered in a woman. The government, however, stated that the “variant does not correlate with the genomic picture of the XE variant.”
The Covid hybrid Omicron XE is a recombinant strain, according to the World Health Organization. It’s a mutant cross between two Omicron variants, BA.1 and BA.2.

According to the WHO, it was first discovered in the United Kingdom, where 600 sequences were discovered. According to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the majority of XE cases were reported in east England, including London.
