Mumbai, 1st Feb.
An individual accused in a case involving an ISIS module bust has requested interim bail from a court to be present with his wife during the birth of their child.

Zubair Shaikh, one of the six individuals arrested by the NIA last year for allegedly promoting terrorist activities in India on behalf of ISIS, has stated that his wife is in the advanced stages of pregnancy and is scheduled to undergo a cesarean delivery on February 4.

Shaikh has appealed for temporary bail to be granted so that he can be by his wife’s side during this time.

The NIA has opposed this plea, arguing that the reasons provided are not strong or valid.

A decision on the plea is expected to be made by the court on February 2.

The NIA initiated the case on June 28, 2023, against Tabish Siddiqui and others, following information received from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) regarding a conspiracy to disrupt the unity, integrity, security, and sovereignty of the country, as well as to wage war against the Government of India by promoting ISIS terrorist activities.
