Bharat’s Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani met with Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay on Sunday, and announced the signing of a significant agreement for a 570 MW green hydro plant in Chukha province. The meeting, held in Thimphu, also included an audience with Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

Adani expressed his enthusiasm following the meeting, highlighting Bhutan’s commitment to advancing infrastructure initiatives under the vision of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. He praised Bhutan’s efforts, stating, “Admirable to see @pmo_bhutan advancing the vision of His Majesty The King and pursuing broad ranging infrastructure initiatives across the kingdom.”

In addition to the hydro project, Adani also discussed Bhutan’s ambitious plans for Gelephu Mindfulness City, focusing on eco-friendly developments such as large computing centers and data facilities. He expressed eagerness to collaborate on these transformative initiatives, emphasizing the importance of green energy management for achieving Bhutan’s goal of becoming a carbon-negative nation.

This initiative marks a continuation of Adani Group’s commitment to green infrastructure development in Bhutan, following earlier engagements aimed at fostering sustainable growth and partnership opportunities with the neighboring kingdom.
