After Tremors in Delhi, a 4.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Uttarakhand

Pithoragarh, 9th Nov. In the early hours of Wednesday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded in Uttarkhand’s Pithoragarh.

This comes after Nepal was struck by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake at 1.57 a.m. on Wednesday. The tremors were also felt in parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region.

The earthquake shocks were felt with an intensity of 5 km depth below the ground in Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 09-11-2022, 06:27:13 IST, Lat: 29.87 & Long: 80.49, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India,” the National Center for Seismology (NCS) tweeted.

The magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck at 1.57 a.m. on Wednesday, with the epicenter in Nepal’s Doti district and a depth of 10 km below the ground, according to the National Center for Seismology.

The death toll from a house collapse in Nepal that was followed by tremors rose to six on Wednesday, according to local police.

Kalpana Shrestha, the Chief District Officer of Doti, told ANI over the phone that five people had been injured and were being taken to the hospital.

“Five injured are being taken to the hospital. Dozens of houses have been damaged with landslides at various locations across the district,” she said.

One female and two children are among the dead, according to officials. However, the identities of the victims have yet to be determined.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

According to NCS, the earthquake struck Nepal at around 2:12 a.m. (local time) at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The tremors were also felt in New Delhi, India’s capital, and its surrounding areas.
