Salem, 23rd Oct. AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami said on Sunday that the party has completely withdrawn from its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking at a public event in Salem, Palaniswami clarified that there was no external pressure to break ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

He emphasized that the decision was made independently by the AIADMK and was not influenced by any external factors. The party had unanimously passed a resolution to leave the NDA on October 2, 2023.

Palaniswami also criticized the ruling party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), accusing them of failing to maintain law and order in the state.

He claimed that the situation was better under the AIADMK rule and blamed the DMK for the breakdown of law and order and the lack of security for women.

Palaniswami asserted that the AIADMK will always prioritize the concerns of the people and fight for their rights.

Furthermore, Palaniswami criticized the DMK’s handling of the National Entrance-Eligibility Test (NEET) examination issue in the state.

He accused the DMK of deceiving the people by promising to ban NEET but failing to take any action in the past 2.5 years.

Palaniswami also criticized state minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his signature campaign against NEET, stating that the DMK is misleading the public by claiming they will ban the exam in Tamil Nadu.

In addition, Palaniswami highlighted that more than 200 people have joined the AIADMK under the leadership of the Coimbatore district Youth Council executives.

He concluded by expressing the party’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the people and holding the DMK accountable for their promises.

The NEET examination has been a contentious issue in Tamil Nadu, with demands for its exemption from the state.

CM Stalin had earlier written to the Chief Ministers’ of 12 states seeking the shifting of education to the state list from the current concurrent list in order to bring an end to the NEET examination.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly had previously passed an anti-NEET bill, which was sent to the President for approval. The issue remains unresolved, and there have been cases of suicides related to NEET in Tamil Nadu and across India.
