Silchar, Assam 21st April. As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the Lok Sabha Election, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be holding a sizable roadshow in Silchar, Assam on Sunday.

According to Silchar Member of Parliament (MP) Rajdeep Roy, Shah would arrive at Silchar Airport in a dedicated aircraft at 4:10 p.m. and arrive in Silchar town via helicopter. “The roadshow is expected to start around 4.30pm,” he stated.

Shah will be doing campaign work for Parimal Suklabaidya, the BJP’s nominee for the Silchar Lok Sabha seat. Following the delimitation procedure in Assam last year by the Election Commission, Silchar was designated as a reserve seat for candidates from scheduled castes. Suklabaidya, a five-term member of parliament from the Cachar district, has held several portfolios under the Assam government.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, who would accompany Amit Shah on the roadshow on Sunday, predicted that Parimal would defeat the opposition candidates by a margin of two to three lakh votes.

According to Roy, Shah’s rally will begin from the playground owned by the District Sports Association (DSA) in Silchar and conclude at the Chittaranjan Statue Point. Over a lakh supporters will participate in the roughly 1.5-kilometer walk. During the roadshow, Shah is anticipated to deliver a speech,” he continued.

Top Assam police officials and central security agencies carried out a fictitious drill on Silchar’s streets prior to Shah’s gathering. They added that sufficient security has been set up in advance of the home minister’s arrival.

“We have enough security forces, and there will be multiple levels of organization. We are practicing a simulated exercise today to evaluate the plans,” a senior police officer stated.

According to party members, severe weather has forced Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to cancel his Sunday visit to a function in the Karimganj district of Assam.

Kharge’s visit has been postponed, according to Congressman Rajat Chakraborty, because of Friday night’s thunderstorms and intense rain. “His visit requires high security measures and the agencies suggested that we cancel the visit,” he stated.
