Artificial Intelligence Revolutionising Clinical Medicine, says Dr Jitendra Singh

Addressing the inaugural session of the “International Patient Safety Conference 2024” in Bengaluru, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on clinical medicine and underscored the urgent need for optimal integration between traditional and emerging patient care tools.

Dr. Singh highlighted the imperative for integration not only between existing and newer healthcare technologies but also between the public and private sectors. Additionally, he stressed the significance of integrating various medical practices, including allopathy and AYUSH, to achieve holistic healthcare goals through a synergistic approach.

Commending India’s recent healthcare achievements, Dr. Singh credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing the healthcare sector, particularly evident through the emphasis on Digital Health, as highlighted in PM Modi’s address from the Red Fort on Independence Day.

Drawing attention to the need for strong public-private extended integration, Dr. Singh cited examples such as the introduction of a Ph.D. course in Biosciences with multi-stream options, illustrating the potential for collaborative endeavors in the healthcare domain.

Dr. Singh underscored the importance of integrating diverse healthcare streams, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which prompted global interest in immunity-building techniques from alternative medical systems like Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, and Yoga.

Highlighting PM Modi’s initiatives to promote indigenous medical systems globally, Dr. Singh cited milestones such as the unanimous adoption of International Day of Yoga and the celebration of the International Year of Millets.

Dr. Singh also highlighted the success of India’s Space and Bio-economy sectors under PM Modi’s leadership, attributing their growth to bold policy decisions facilitating private sector participation.

Discussing the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, Dr. Singh emphasized its potential to foster greater public-private partnership in scientific research, projecting a budgetary allocation of Rs. 50,000 crore over five years, with a majority sourced from non-government entities.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of Apollo Hospitals in addressing societal needs during the COVID-19 crisis, Dr. Singh commended their commitment to patient care and technological innovation.

In conclusion, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded the organizers for fostering collaborative relationships between the government and stakeholders, driving advancements in AI and patient-centered clinical medicine.
