Itanagar, 27th July. The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced plans to provide training for local youths under the Agnipath scheme and to give preference to retired Agniveers for recruitment into the state’s police, emergency, and fire services.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted this initiative as a transformative step to enable Arunachal Pradesh’s youth to serve the nation.

In a recent statement on X, Khandu detailed that the state government would support the training of local youths to prepare them for recruitment as Agniveers, who are enlisted under the Agnipath scheme introduced by the Centre in 2022. This scheme targets youths aged 17.5 to 21 for a four-year tenure in the Army, Navy, and Air Force, with 25% of recruits offered regular service upon completion.

The Chief Minister also noted that retired Agniveers from Arunachal Pradesh will be prioritized for roles in the Arunachal Pradesh Police, AP Battalions, and Emergency and Fire Services.

This follows the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ announcement reserving 10% of vacancies in Central Armed Police Forces for ex-Agniveers, with similar state-level preferences.
