Assam Cash Scandal : Congress Candidate’s Wife Detained

Lakhimpur, Assam ,9th April : A scandal involving the distribution of cash in Assam  has set the election mood in Ranganadi on fire. People in the area say that Jonmoni Devi Khound, the wife of Congress candidate Jayanta Khound, came late at night to give money to voters. Witnesses say that she was caught by watchful neighbors in a suspicious way and quickly turned over to the police.

Seized were bundles of ₹500 and ₹200 notes.

People who live nearby say that several bundles of ₹500 and ₹200 notes were found at the scene. This event has caused a lot of speculation and unrest in the area. People in the area say that the money was given out at the last minute to try to sway voters before the election.

Police arrested and began an Investigation

After the event, police arrested Jonmoni Devi Khound and started a full investigation. Authorities are also looking into whether other people were involved in the incident.
