People in the area say that Jonmoni Devi Khound, the wife of Congress candidate Jayanta Khound, came late at night to give money to voters. Witnesses say that she was caught by watchful neighbors in a suspicious way and quickly turned over to the police.
Seized were bundles of ₹500 and ₹200 notes.
People who live nearby say that several bundles of ₹500 and ₹200 notes were found at the scene. This event has caused a lot of speculation and unrest in the area. People in the area say that the money was given out at the last minute to try to sway voters before the election.
