Assam CM Biswa Visits Flood-Affected Areas of Hojai District to Assess Damage

Dispur, 12th July. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited flood-affected areas of Hojai district and assessed relief efforts made by the district administration.

Sarma inspected the erosion-damaged areas of Dakhin Kenduguri in Hojai and assessed the damage caused by Kopili River flood waters at the site.

The Chief Minister met with local residents in Dakhin Kenduguri Bornamghar and assured them that all necessary steps would be taken to prevent erosion and the construction of an embankment to protect the area from flooding.

Sarma also went to a flood relief camp in the Hojai district, Pub Nabhanga, and inspected the facilities provided to the inmates.

He also interacted with the locals who were taking refuge there in order to get a better understanding of their situation.

Later, he took part in a meeting with senior district officials at Dakhin Jugijan in Hojai, where he reviewed the administration’s flood-response measures.

He directed PWD officials to submit reports on damaged roads as soon as possible so that repair work could begin. Sarma also asked that the district administration begin planning for the construction of six highlands in the area where locals could seek refuge during floods.

Furthermore, he directed Agriculture Department officials to prioritise the distribution of paddy seedlings to affected farmers.

During the Chief Minister’s visit, MLAs Ramkrishna Ghosh and Sibu Misra, DC Anupam Choudhury, and other senior district officials were present.
