GG News Bureau
Uttarakhand, 4th Feb. Within a 300-meter radius surrounding the Assembly premises, the district administration has enforced Section 144 in light of the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly session that begins on February 5.

According to Dehradun District Magistrate Sonika, demonstrations by communities and organizations within the designated area will not be permitted during the assembly session, which begins on Monday.

In the meantime, the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be discussed at this assembly session, which is of great significance.

To discuss the draft report on the Uniform Civil Code, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called a cabinet meeting earlier on Saturday in the State Secretariat.

The Cabinet will approve the Uniform Civil Code draft report during the critical state-level meeting. On February 6, the government will then introduce the UCC Bill in the Assembly.

Under the direction of retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, the UCC drafting committee delivered the draft to Chief Minister Dhami on Friday.

The UCC suggests standardized civil laws for the state’s communities.

At a gathering held on Friday at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office’s Mukhya Sevak Sadan, Dhami stated, “We made a commitment to our people to introduce the UCC in Uttarakhand prior to the Assembly’s convening. The implementation of the UCC will follow a resolution that the BJP has approved.”

CM Dhami said on social media on Friday that the UCC will aid in realizing the goal of “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat,” making it a significant day for the state’s citizens.

All citizens, regardless of religion, will have access to a common legal framework for marriage, divorce, land, property, and inheritance under the UCC.

With the passing of the UCC Bill, the BJP will have fulfilled a significant pledge it made to the people of the state in the lead-up to the 2022 Assembly elections.
