Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong Visits Delhi for 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue

New Delhi, 20th Nov. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong arrived in Delhi on Monday to participate in the second India-Australia 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. She was warmly welcomed at the Air Force Station in New Delhi.

“A warm welcome to FM @SenatorWong of Australia as she arrives in New Delhi to co-chair the 2nd India-Australia 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue and the 14th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue. A rich agenda of discussion covering various facets of India-Australia partnership awaits,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles has also arrived for the dialogue.

The two Australian leaders will co-chair the dialogue with their Indian counterparts, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Marles has expressed that India is a top-tier security partner for Australia and their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership directly benefits the Indo-Pacific region.

He highlighted the growing closeness of the defence and security partnerships between the two nations, citing recent events such as an Indian submarine visit to Perth and Australia hosting Exercise Malabar.

Foreign Affairs Minister Wong emphasized that the India-Australia partnership is crucial for the stability and prosperity of the shared region. She stated that Australia is committed to partnering more closely with India in the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific.

The 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue is seen as a cornerstone of the India-Australia relationship and an opportunity to work together in shaping the desired region.

During the dialogue, the ministers will focus on advancing cooperation in areas such as defence, security, renewable energy, and technology.
