Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates Girls’ Hostel and Playgrounds at National Institute of Homeopathy in Kolkata

Kolkata, 8th Oct.  Union Minister Sarbanada Sonowal inaugurated the Girls’ hostel for undergraduate students and Play grounds at National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Kolkata on Thursday, 7th October. MoS for Ayush Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai was also present on this occasion.

During this, Sarbananda Sonowal said that homeopathy is a “science” and its students should work hard to prove that it is the best form of treatment.

He also mentioned that India should reclaim its glory in health and the AYUSH sector is one of the gems which should get its place on the crown of mother India. The AYUSH sector has the capability to show the health-path to all the stakeholders around the Globe.

Sonowal, who was addressing an event at the National Institute of Homeopathy in the city, asked the students to prove that alternative medicine is the best way to treat ailments.

He said, “I ask all the students to work hard to show the power of Homeopathy and AYUSH in the 22nd century. We have to prove that these are also sciences.”

The Union Minister urged the students of Homeopathy to work in such a way that wherever they are in the world, people start respecting Homeopathy. Sonowal introduced the National Commission for Homeopathy (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the Lok Sabha this August. It proposed to amend the National Commission for Homeopathy Act, 2020 to provide for a medical education system that improves access to quality and affordable medical education.

In the program, Sonowal, along with Minister of State Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, inaugurated a hostel for the girl students of the institute. Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai said that homoeopathy for its affordability, compatibility, palatability made it the 2nd most accessible, acceptable among all strata of community beyond the limit of caste, creed, religion and social status.

On this occasion, the Minister approved the proposal for the construction of a new boys hostel with an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crores, construction for new auditorium and Increment of stipend of internees at par with that of Ayurveda.

He expressed his happiness to see that the NIH is taking steps to achieve these objectives and thriving to provide quality health care to the patients. Looking at the strengths of Homoeopathy, Homoeopaths should get involved more in promotional and preventive health care along with their curative approaches.
