Azamgarh, 26th June. BJP leader Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua defeated Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Dharmendra Yadav by a margin of 8679 votes from Azamgarh seat of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

Azamgarh saw a triangular election, with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) forming the third corner. The Bhojpuri actor received over 3.10 lakh votes, while the SP candidate received around three lakh votes.

After his victory, Bhojpuri actor Nirahua tweeted, “You have done wonders, people of Azamgarh. This is your victory. With the announcement of the bypoll dates, and the way you all have showered love, support and blessings to the BJP, this is its victory. The victory is dedicated to your trust and the hard work of godlike workers.”

Nirahua said that he will do his best to serve Azamgarh.

Following his win, the bhojpuri actor met with his mother and posted a photo and video with her on Instagram.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, stated that the historic victory in the Azamgarh Sadar Lok Sabha constituency is the result of the public welfare schemes of the “double engine BJP government” led by the Prime Minister.

The resignation of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who won the election to the Assembly earlier this year, made the by-election for the Azamgarh seat necessary.
