New Delhi, 20th May.  A ground-breaking ceremony was held for a cutting-edge indoor facility in the Northeastern provinces of India, according to Jay Shah, honorary secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Shah said on Twitter that the six north-eastern states were the BCCI’s top priority and that the organization was actively working to raise the standard of cricket.

In his tweet, Shah listed six states in the region—Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim—that have not witnessed as much progress in cricket as the eastern corridor states of Assam, Bengal, and Jharkhand. Shah disclosed that the BCCI will also be opening a new pavilion in Mizoram in addition to the indoor facilities.

Shah tweeted that the indoor facility will offer year-round training alternatives with top-notch indoor nets, indoor swimming pools, and fitness centers.

It is a great honor to have placed the cornerstone for BCCI’s soon-to-be cutting-edge indoor training facilities in the Northeast! Our cricket players from six states—Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim—will soon have access to top-notch indoor training facilities, including fitness centers, indoor swimming pools, and indoor nets. There are exciting times ahead as we move closer to realizing our goal of improving cricket facilities in the area with the opening of the new pavilion in Mizoram and other initiatives.” Shah stated on Twitter.

The last two years have seen the BCCI put a lot of effort into growing cricket. A significant sum of money has been invested in grassroots development, particularly in women’s cricket. The Women’s Premier League, which the BCCI established two years ago, has led to an unparalleled surge in women’s cricket play. Additionally, a number of states have launched their own T20 leagues, which should attract additional participants for the ecosystem.
