New Delhi, 30th March.
The election campaign in West Bengal has heated up since the Lok Sabha elections were announced. One such high-profile seat in the state is the Lok Sabha seat for North Kolkata. Sudip Banerjee, the current Member of Parliament, received a ticket from the ruling Trinamool Congress this time as well. He has long served as the Trinamool Parliamentary Party’s leader. This time, the BJP has put up a very special candidate to challenge him. A few days ago, Tapas Rai, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after quitting the Trinamool Congress. He was a TMC MLA, and he and Sudip Banerjee were known for their constant verbal sparring. Leader Tapas, who has a spotless reputation, has been charging Sudip Banerjee with corruption. Tapas has, however, frequently charged Sudeep of having ties to the BJP. The fight has gained interest since the BJP nominated him to run against Sudip Banerjee after he switched parties. Currently, neither the Congress nor the Left parties have declared a candidate for this position. On the other hand, Trinamool and BJP will square off in the Lok Sabha elections.

Political history of North Kolkata Lok Sabha seat

Mohammad Salim received 3 lakh 51 thousand 368 votes, while Sudeep Bandopadhyay received 4 lakh 60 thousand 646. Following this, Muhammad Salim relocated.
