Bihar Cabinet Expansion: Nitish Keeps Home Portfolio, Tejashwi Gets Health

Patna, 16th August. In the first Cabinet expansion of Bihar’s newly formed Mahagathbandhan government, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar retained the crucial Home Department portfolio, while Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav took over the Health Department.

JD(U) leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary was appointed Finance Minister, while RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav was appointed Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.

Thirty-one ministers were sworn in as members of the Bihar cabinet, including 16 from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), 11 from Nitish’s Janta Dal-United (JD-U), two from the Congress, one from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and one independent MP.

Shortly after the cabinet ministers were sworn in, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told reporters that portfolios would be assigned to each minister soon.

Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at Raj Bhavan.
