Bihar’s Muzaffarpur Exposed as Site of Call Centre Horror

Women Trapped in Vicious Cycle of Fraud, Torture, and Abuse

Muzaffarpur, 20th June. For months, Bihar’s Muzaffarpur was home to a call centre from hell, where unsuspecting women fell victim to a sinister scam. The company, DBR Networking, lured women through social media advertisements promising lucrative call centre jobs. However, these jobs came with a devastating catch: the applicants had to pay ₹ 20,000 for training.

According to police officials, the women were shown dreams of a bright future, only to be subjected to mental torture, fraud, and, in some cases, rape and forced abortions. An official revealed that the horrific cycle began as soon as women arrived in Muzaffarpur for training. One survivor, who filed a First Information Report (FIR) on June 2, recounted her ordeal, stating she was among 150 women deceived by the advertisement. She detailed how she was trained to scam people and faced severe consequences when targets were not met.

The survivor accused Tilak Kumar Singh, one of the company’s key figures, of raping her multiple times and forcing her to undergo an abortion. The FIR names nine accused, with the main perpetrator being Manish Kumar Singh, a resident of Noida and the alleged owner of the company.

Superintendent of Police (City), Muzaffarpur, Awadhesh Dixit, stated that Tilak Kumar Singh has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated. Efforts are underway to apprehend the other eight accused.

“Tilak Kumar has been arrested from Gorakhpur… The survivor has alleged that the accused kept on assaulting her in a room for several months,” Dixit told news agency PTI.

The harrowing revelations have shocked the nation, shedding light on the severe exploitation and abuse faced by women lured by false promises of employment. Authorities are intensifying their efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice and prevent such atrocities from recurring.
