BJP Budget Is ‘Revenge’ Against All India, says Stalin

Chennai, 27th July. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a fierce attack at the BJP-led central government on Saturday, denouncing the 2024-25 Union Budget as a “revenge” act against the country. Stalin warned that the BJP’s policies would lead to more electoral defeats due to a series of “mistakes.”

In a statement, Stalin explained his decision to boycott the Niti Aayog meeting in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He cited the “discriminatory attitude” of the central government towards Tamil Nadu, highlighting the state’s unaddressed demands for Rs 37,000 crore in disaster relief and funding for the Chennai Metro Rail’s second phase.

“The budget presented on July 23 is a vindictive move against states that opposed the BJP,” Stalin alleged. He criticized the BJP for what he described as a politically motivated budget rather than one aimed at national welfare.

The Chief Minister accused the BJP of withholding funds meant for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan and criticized the Union government’s insistence on implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) as a condition for fund disbursement. He also condemned the central government’s decision to reduce stamp duty without consulting states and expressed frustration over the delay in GST compensation payments to Tamil Nadu.

Stalin took aim at the Union Budget’s lack of significant tax relief for the middle class and criticized the BJP for its handling of tax policy. “This budget is not just a revenge against Tamil Nadu; it is a revenge against all of India,” he asserted. “The BJP’s mistakes will lead to more defeats. As the voice of Tamil Nadu and all Indians, we demand answers.”

Stalin, who is also the president of the ruling DMK, warned that the BJP’s actions would face increasing public backlash, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration.
