The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given the nod to six railway projects, with an estimated cost of around ₹12,343 crore, announced the government in a statement on Thursday. These projects will be financed by the central government.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the six multi-tracking projects across Rajasthan, Assam, Telangana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Nagaland, with a combined value of ₹12,343 crore. The aim of these projects is to enhance operational efficiency, alleviate congestion, and provide much-needed infrastructure development along the busiest sections of the Indian Railways network.

“The projects align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘new India,’ fostering self-reliance and comprehensive development in the region to enhance employment and self-employment opportunities,” the statement emphasized.

Spanning 18 districts across six states, these projects will extend the Indian Railways network by 1,020 km and generate approximately three crore man-days of employment opportunities.

The approved railway sections include Ajmer-Chanderiya and Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan; Luni-Samdari-Bhildi in Gujarat and Rajasthan; Agthori-Kamakhya with a new rail-cum-road bridge in Assam; Lumding-Furkating in Assam and Nagaland; and Motumari-Vishnupuram and Rail-Over-Rail at Motumari in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

“These projects are part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multimodal connectivity, facilitated by integrated planning, aiming to provide seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods, and services,” the statement concluded.
