Case Filed Against Ex-Maharashtra Minister and 7 Others for Agricultural Infrastructure Corruption

Mumbai, 12th Nov. The Navi Mumbai police have filed a case against eight individuals, including a former Maharashtra minister, for alleged mismanagement of an Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) and causing a loss of 7.61 crore rupees to the state treasury, according to an official.

The issue revolves around the alleged favoritism in awarding contracts for the construction of toilets in areas under the APMC’s jurisdiction to certain organizations, as stated by an official from the APMC police station.

The FIR registered by the police on Saturday states that between 2005 and 2022, the accused individuals violated regulations in the management of the APMC, resulting in the financial loss.

Based on a complaint by a government audit team, the police have registered offenses against eight individuals, including a former minister, retired and current APMC officials, under sections 406, 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
