CBI Arrests Key Conspirator in NEET Paper Leak Case

 In the latest development in the NEET irregularities case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested a key conspirator from Dhanbad. This marks the seventh arrest in the medical entrance examination scandal. The arrested individual has been identified as Aman Singh, who is currently being questioned by the CBI regarding his alleged role in the paper leak.

Officials stated that the CBI developed intelligence about a Jharkhand-based module allegedly involved in the paper leak, which led to Singh’s arrest.

Six Previous Arrests by CBI

Prior to Singh’s arrest, the CBI had detained several individuals in connection with the case:

  • Dixit Patel, the owner of Jay Jalaram School in Godhara, Gujarat, was arrested on June 30. His school was one of the designated centres for the NEET-UG exam held on May 5. Patel allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from candidates to help them clear the test.
  • Two persons from Bihar were arrested for allegedly providing premises for NEET candidates to burn the question papers. The remnants were discovered by Bihar Police on the day of the examination.
  • Ehsanul Haque and Imtiaz Alam, the Principal and Vice Principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, were also arrested. Haque was the city coordinator of Hazaribagh for the NEET UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5, while Alam was the NTA’s observer and the center coordinator for Oasis School.
  • Jamaluddin Ansari, a journalist, was arrested for allegedly assisting the Principal and Vice Principal of Oasis School.

CBI Investigating Multiple FIRs

The CBI has registered six FIRs related to the NEET irregularities, covering issues such as paper leakage and impersonation of candidates:

  • One FIR from Bihar is related to the leakage of the examination paper.
  • The remaining FIRs from Gujarat and Rajasthan pertain to the impersonation of candidates and cheating.
  • The CBI has taken over one case each from Bihar and Gujarat and three from Rajasthan.
  • One FIR, registered on a reference from the Union Education Ministry, pertains to a comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination.
