Dharwad, 22nd April.
BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday highlighted the remarkable increase in funding for Karnataka by the Government of India, which has surged from ₹ 80,000 crore to ₹ 2.93 lakh crores.

Addressing the media, Nadda stated, “Today, the Congress released an advertisement showcasing the funds they used to allocate to Karnataka. However, the Government of India has now increased Karnataka’s funding by four times. How can the Congress still make allegations against the Central Government? They seem to have forgotten that their allocation to Karnataka was only ₹ 80,000 crore. Today, Prime Minister Modi has allocated ₹ 2.93 lakh crores.”

Nadda underscored the failures of the Congress party over the decades, particularly in eradicating poverty.

“When Jawaharlal Nehru initiated the ‘Gareebi Hatao’ (Eradicate Poverty) campaign, the poverty rate stood at 50%. Under Indira Gandhi, despite her similar campaign, poverty increased to 60%. Rajiv Gandhi himself acknowledged that only 15 paise out of every rupee reached the intended beneficiaries. Now, Rahul Gandhi promises to eradicate poverty in one stroke, a task they failed to achieve in 60 years, owing to their ‘Drawing room’ politics.”

Highlighting the effectiveness of poverty alleviation schemes under the Modi government, Nadda praised the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana’ as the world’s largest scheme for the poor.

Nadda noted, “Eighty crore people receive free ration every month, including four crore beneficiaries from Karnataka alone. As a result of these initiatives, 25 crore people who were Below Poverty Line have been lifted Above Poverty Line, as confirmed by the IMF and NITI Aayog.”

Earlier, Nadda had criticized the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, accusing them of corruption, nepotism, and neglecting public welfare.

“In the UPA era, corruption flourished, nepotism prevailed, and the government turned a blind eye to the needs of the people,” Nadda remarked, reiterating the BJP’s commitment to good governance and inclusive development.
