Centre Asks Israel to Ensure Safety of Indian Workers

New Delhi, 5th April.
India has asked Israel to guarantee the safety of Indian construction workers who recently arrived in the country under a bilateral mobility agreement.

Israeli Ambassador to India, Naor Gilon, announced on Tuesday that the first group of over 60 Indian construction workers has departed for Israel.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated during his weekly media briefing that these workers are part of an agreement signed with Israel, which was established before the conflict. The Indian government is concerned about their safety and has asked Israeli authorities to ensure their well-being.

Jaiswal mentioned that there are currently around 18,000 Indian caregivers working in Israel, and the Indian embassy is in contact with them.

After the Israel-Hamas conflict, reports emerged suggesting that the Israeli construction industry is considering hiring 100,000 Indian workers to replace 90,000 Palestinians.

India recently emphasized its focus on protecting the safety and security of all its citizens in Israel following the tragic death of an Indian individual in a missile attack reportedly carried out by Hezbollah.
