New Delhi, 13th Feb.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, acknowledging the significant traffic congestion in the national capital region due to the ongoing farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, assured lawyers of accommodation in court proceedings if they were stuck in traffic.

During the day’s proceedings, the CJI, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, informed lawyers that they would accommodate them if they faced any difficulties due to the ongoing farmer protests, stating, “we will adjust.”

Farmers from Punjab initiated their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march today, demanding legal assurance for Minimum Support Price (MSP) among other demands. Despite inconclusive discussions with Union ministers, the farmers proceeded with their march from the Ambala-Shambhu, Khanauri-Jind, and Dabwali borders towards Delhi. Over 200 farmer unions, represented by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, are participating in the protest, pressing the Centre to address their grievances.

The anticipated march prompted extensive security measures, with significant police and paramilitary presence and multi-layered barricading at Delhi’s Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders to deter protesters from entering the capital.
