Chief Priest of Ram Temple Consecration, Acharya Laxmikant Dixit, Passes Away

Acharya Laxmikant Dixit, the revered chief priest who conducted the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, passed away early Saturday morning. Aged 86, Dixit had been ailing for the past few days, according to family members, who confirmed that his last rites will be performed at Manikarnika Ghat.

The consecration of Lord Ram’s idol at the Ayodhya temple on January 22 was a monumental event led by Prime Minister Modi, with Acharya Laxmikant Dixit playing a pivotal role. Hailing from Solapur district in Maharashtra, Dixit’s family has been rooted in Varanasi for generations, where he was revered as a senior scholar.

Expressing his condolences, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mourned the loss of Acharya Laxmikant Dixit, describing him as a stalwart of Kashi’s scholarly community and a pivotal figure in the spiritual realm. “His departure is an irreparable loss to the spiritual and literary world,” stated Adityanath in a heartfelt tribute.

“Acharya Shri Laxmikant Dixit will be remembered for his profound contributions to the Sanskrit language and Indian culture,” the Chief Minister added, invoking Lord Shri Ram to grant solace to Dixit’s disciples and followers during this period of grief.

The passing of Acharya Laxmikant Dixit marks the end of an era for the devotees of Lord Ram and scholars alike, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual leadership and cultural stewardship that resonates deeply within India’s cultural tapestry.
