Commerce Secretary Inaugurates Flagship MBA Programmes at IIFT

New Delhi, 17th July. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday with the inauguration of its two-year flagship MBA (International Business) and MBA (Business Analytics) programmes for the academic term 2024-26. The ceremony, held at IIFT’s campus in New Delhi, commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Shri Sunil Barthwal, Commerce Secretary of India, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Chancellor of IIFT.

Addressing the gathering of incoming students, parents, faculty, and staff, Shri Sunil Barthwal highlighted the pivotal roles of international business and business analytics in today’s interconnected global economy. He emphasized that international trade remains crucial for economic growth, job creation, and fostering innovation. Additionally, he underscored how business analytics is revolutionizing organizational operations through data-driven decision-making and enhancing competitiveness.

Encouraging a culture of peer-to-peer learning, Shri Barthwal urged students to actively engage in debates, discussions, and interactions with industry leaders, alumni, and government officials. He emphasized the need for continuous learning and adaptation to evolving skills in the fast-paced global environment.

“In India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation, leveraging our demographic dividend and embracing technology and entrepreneurial skills are crucial,” Shri Barthwal remarked during his address. He called upon the students to envision themselves as future leaders in emerging service sectors and to contribute significantly towards the nation’s Vision @2047.

Welcoming the new batch of students, Professor Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor of IIFT, stressed the importance of hard work and acquiring contemporary managerial skills for success in corporate life. He reaffirmed IIFT’s commitment to becoming a world-class institute renowned for its research, training, and education in international business and trade.

The inauguration ceremony concluded on a promising note, with students poised to embark on their academic journey equipped with insights and inspiration to make a positive impact on the global stage.
