Congress Files Police Complaint Over NDA Leaders’ Threats Against Rahul Gandhi

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 18th Sept. The Congress party lodged a police complaint on Wednesday, accusing NDA leaders of issuing threats against Rahul Gandhi. The complaint, filed by AICC treasurer and general secretary Ajay Maken, alleges that these statements are intended to jeopardize Gandhi’s safety and disturb peace amid upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.

The Congress cited recent remarks by BJP leaders Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Ravneet Singh Bittu, and Raghuraj Singh, as well as Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad. Maken demanded the registration of FIRs against these individuals, asserting that the statements were designed to incite violence and public unrest.

Speaking to the media, Maken condemned the threats, noting that both Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had sacrificed their lives for the country and criticizing the current threats as a new low in Indian politics. He accused the BJP of failing to address Gandhi’s focus on marginalized communities and using these threats to intimidate and provoke violence.

The complaint details specific remarks, including Marwah’s alleged threat of violence against Gandhi, Gaikwad’s bounty offer for harming him, and Bittu’s description of Gandhi as a “number one terrorist.” The Congress argues that such statements are aimed at inciting hatred and unrest, undermining Gandhi’s role, and obstructing his public duties.

The party has called for immediate action, requesting an FIR under relevant provisions of the BNS, 2023, against the accused leaders and their associates. The complaint accuses the BJP and its allies of a coordinated effort to create division and aggression against the Congress and its leaders.
