Congress Leader Thorat Accuses Maharashtra CM, Deputy CM of Spreading Fake News

GG News Bureau
Mumbai, 15th Sept. Congress Legislature Party leader in Maharashtra, Balasaheb Thorat, has accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of inciting religious discord by disseminating “fake news.”

Thorat’s allegations followed remarks by CM Shinde, who claimed that the Congress government in Karnataka was attempting to shut down Ganesh festival celebrations. Shinde also criticized the opposition for focusing on a collapsed statue of Shivaji Maharaj in Sindhudurg while remaining silent about a video showing Karnataka police allegedly placing a Ganesh idol in a police van.

The videos, which have gone viral on social media, depict Karnataka police allegedly removing a Ganesh idol from protesters and transporting it in a police van.

In a post on social media platform X, Thorat accused Shinde and Fadnavis of fabricating narratives to mislead the public. “The only thing that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are doing full time is creating a fake narrative by constantly spreading fake news,” he asserted, questioning if they were operating “fake news factories.”

Thorat also criticized the earlier protest against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statements on reservation, which he claimed Gandhi never made. He argued that the recent attempts to stir religious discord by spreading false information about Karnataka were misleading.

“The people of the state are wise, and along with your fake narrative, your government will also be uprooted,” Thorat concluded.
