DDA Approves Rs 8,811 Crore Budget for Civic Infrastructure and Sports Facilities

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has greenlit an annual budget of Rs 8,811 crore aimed at bolstering civic infrastructure and enhancing sports facilities for a healthier and fitter Delhi, as per an official statement released on Wednesday.

The budget, sanctioned by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, underscores the authority’s commitment to numerous developmental projects in the upcoming financial year, with a primary focus on improving housing, enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal, and conserving its rich heritage.

With an outlay of Rs 8,811 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, the proposed expenditures will be met through projected revenues amounting to Rs 9,182 crore. Notably, the capital expenditure constitutes approximately 61% of the annual allocations, aligning with the Union government’s emphasis on infrastructural development.

The DDA’s overall receipts have surged by a significant 75% in the current financial year, reaching Rs 7,696 crore compared to Rs 4,392 crore in the previous year. Looking ahead, the authority aims to sustain this momentum, projecting a nearly 19% increase in revenue targets for the next fiscal year.

Amidst extensive developmental activities, the DDA’s expenditures in the current financial year have witnessed a substantial rise of nearly 69%, reaching Rs 8,804 crore, indicating a steadfast commitment to infrastructure enhancement.

Key initiatives include the ongoing construction of three new sports complexes in Dwarka, one in Rohini, and a golf course in Dwarka, with plans for an additional sports complex in Narela. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop public spaces along the Yamuna riverfront, expansive parks, and heritage structures, fostering connectivity and community engagement.

With allocations earmarked for housing projects, including the development of residential complexes on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) norms in Karkardooma, the DDA remains steadfast in its mission to enhance the living standards and overall quality of life for residents across Delhi.
